OUR VETERINARIANS - GENERAL PRACTICE Dr. Chris Collis Dr. Collis graduated in 1989 from the Ontario Veterinary College and
took his first position on Vancouver Island. After working in a variety
of positions, he established Glenview Animal Hospital in 1995 and Eagle
Rise Animal Hospital in 2009. He's enjoyed the day-to-day challenges
of companion animal medicine as well as practice management and supporting veterinarians and staff to
enhance their knowledge & skills. When not engaged with the practices, Chris spends
his time with his wife, their two dogs, two teenagers and traveling as a family internationally whenever time allows. Dr. Bryanne Leuenberger Dr. Leuenberger graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College and
worked in Australia and in Southern Ontario before discovering beautiful Vancouver Island. She worked in companion animal practices before joining Glenview Animal Hospital & Eagle Rise Animal Hospital. She's quite happy to see a wide variety of pets from the large to the tiny as well as our smaller species. While keeping very busy as a veterinarian, she is also a sports enthusiast enjoying a wide variety of activities including golf, scuba diving and fishing as well as a passion for travel, cooking, reading and fitness activities. Dr. Michele Martin Dr. Martin graduated in 2000 from the Ontario Veterinary College after an earlier life in the financial field. Her passion for the pursuit of excellence in veterinary practice as well as applying her multitude of academic skills now sees her working toward her Ph.D. in human Breast Cancer Research through the Deeley Research Centre and the University of Victoria. When not engaged in research curing cancer, she can be found practicing veterinary medicine at Glenview Animal Hospital & Eagle Rise Animal Hospital. As busy as she is, she always makes time for her two best friends, Jack - a bouncy Border Collie and Stella, her companion kitty. Dr. Ann Signorella Dr. Signorella is a Graduate from Royal (Dick) Veterinary College at the University of Edinburgh, Scotland, and originally from the Boston area before settling here in Victoria. Her international education has led her to being involved in veterinary practice in the United States, Scotland, Turks & Caicos Islands and Kenya. In addition, she completed both a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Science degree before embarking on a Veterinary career. When not busy being engaged as a practicing veterinarian, she's an avid outdoor enthusiast enjoying Snowboarding, Rock and Ice Climbing, Mountaineering as well as backpacking, hiking, camping, sailing and International travel. OUR VETERINARIANS - SPECIALIST PRACTICE Dr. Charlotte Keller - Veterinary Eye Specialist Dr. Keller was born and raised in Switzerland and received her veterinary degree from the University of Bern in 1982. Post graduate studies resulted in a thesis and degree, Dr.med.vet. In 1986 Dr. Keller visited the Ontario Veterinary College in Guelph. She spent 2 months with the comparative ophthalmology service and was inspired to become a veterinary ophthalmologist. She received training at OVC and the University of Texas A&M, College Station. In 1990 she became a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Ophthalmologists and in 1998 she became a Diplomate of the European CVO. Dr. Keller returned to Guelph and accepted a faculty position at OVC in 1991. Over the next 14 years she trained five residents all of whom became Diplomates of the ACVO. Dr. Keller decided in 2004 to leave academia to continue her career in private practice in British Columbia and Ontario. In practice she enjoys performing intraocular and extraocular surgery and is interested in inflammatory diseases of the eye. Dr. Keller's personal interests include spending time with her family, outdoor activities, gardening and playing the cello. Dr. Kinga Gortel - Veterinary Dermatology Specialist Dr. Kinga Gortel received her DVM degree from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine. She then completed a Small Animal Internship and a Dermatology Residency program combined with a Masters Degree program at the University of Illinois. Dr. Gortel became a diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Dermatology in 1999. She then practiced in southern California. Dr. Gortel now lives in Kelowna and works at the C.A.R.E. Centre in Calgary as well as the Westbank Animal Care Hospital. Her special interests are infectious and allergic skin diseases. Dr. Tatjana Mirkovic - Veterinary Internal Medicine Specialist Dr. Mirkovic's information is pending.
OUR ADMININSTRATIVE STAFF Melissa - Specialist Administrator Melissa came to us in 2008 with nine years of customer service and two years of managerial experience. She proved herself so valuable that she was given the challenge of providing all of the logistical administrative support to our team of specialists. She's the very cheerful voice you're likely to hear when booking appointment with any of our specialists. Her organizational skills and "I can do that" approach to work has made her a wonderful asset to our Eagle Rise team. She has two furry, four-legged family members at home. Emma, who is the oldest furry feline, absolutely LOVES to cuddle and drool all over you if you let her! Ashlee, a younger Miniature Long-hair Dachshund, is FULL of fun loving energy and has no problem letting you know that she is a little princess. The newest member of her family Holly is a very active "Mastidor" - her other canine companion. When Melissa has free time, she enjoys living life to the fullest with her significant other in their new home! Sara - Veterinary Assistant & Receptionist Sara's information is pending Vanessa - Receptionist Vanessa's information is pending Cheryl - Receptionist Cheryl joined the practice in 1995 after working for almost a decade in an environmental laboratory. She continues to enjoy the change from her previous position and finds the new challenges in a veterinary office very rewarding. She hopes to be the smiling face behind the reception desk for many decades to come! Cheryl's enthusiastic approach to veterinary reception and her enjoyment of keeping pets and people happy have contributed greatly to the education and feeling of ease for both our patients and their people. If ever a concern arises about any aspect of our client service, Cheryl is quick to do what is necessary to meet our clients expectations. Being outdoors and active, spending time with family and friends,
and her love of being a Mum of two children are Cheryl's passions when
she's not hard at work.
OUR ANIMAL HEALTH TECHNOLOGISTS Kristin Kristin graduated in 1999 from the Animal Health Technology Program
at the University College of the Cariboo (now Thompson Rivers
University) and has been working as a technician ever since. Natalie Natalie was raised on a small hobby farm in Nova Scotia and has always been around and cared for animals. She has always had a passion for science and biology and originally wanted to be in the forensics field. However, she discovered the AHT program and found her perfect job. Natalie completed the AHT program at Thompson Rivers University. After finishing her practicum at Glenview in 2006, she knew where she wanted to work. The rest is history. Natalie has a Blue Tongue skink named Wedgie. When she's not working, you can find Natalie in the great outdoors doing her other passion – photography. Fawn Fawn grew up in a very remote logging community on Vancouver Island, before moving to the Okanagan. Upon graduation from highschool, she completed a B.Sc. at the University of Victoria before returning to school for the Animal Health Technology program at Olds College in Alberta. She joined Eagle Rise Animal Hospital and Glenview Animal Hospital in Sept. 2009 as a new AHT graduate and has proven herself many times over!
